I have fallen deep into the photography rabbit hole, especially this past February. Since my last post in January I've shot the St. Joseph, MI lighthouse twice in drastically different conditions, developed three rolls of film at the lab and 12 rolls at home. Yes the film bug bit me hard.
But that's not the overwhelming part. No, what's overwhelming is culling and editing the 298 photos of Lake Michigan I took a few weeks ago on my iPhone after I ran out of film. It turns out less is more and thanks to a stupid mistake of mis-rating a roll of film, I had even fewer actual film shots, making it quite easy to pick the ones I liked.
I spent $1.78 per shot on the film photos I kept, and $0.00 on the digital and while I got some really great photos with my phone for free, they feel less thoughtful to me and I enjoy them less as a result.
